Utilizing Imaging Analysis to Determine the Internal Structure Characteristics of Asphalt Mixtures for Permeability and Moisture Damage Performance

چکیده
Moisture is a significant problem in standard pavements, causing asphalt mixtures to deteriorate due insufficient water permeability. This failure from moisture damage often caused by precipitation accumulation or poor drainage, which allows weaken adhesion seeping between the aggregates and asphalt. The relationship permeability aggregate contact length believed be inverse. To effectively assess performance damage, an concrete design criterion was established using Image Processing Analysis System (IPAS) determine lengths. objective of this research use laboratory experiments conjunction with IPAS investigate air-void-controlled various material properties correlation other factors. results show that AC60/70, AC60/70+Carbon Black, AC60/70+SBS combinations coconut peat filler had lowest coefficient (k) among similar mixtures, values 0.056 × 10−5 cm/s, 0.010 1.508 respectively. Both dense porous gradations modified binder demonstrated positive linear relationships TSR study found strong (tensile strength ratio) k (permeability coefficient) both gradations, R2 0.79 0.74, Additionally, we number points skeleton strongly influenced mixes’ permeability, trend 0.93 for indices.

15 صفحه اولPerformance Evaluation of Dynamic Modulus Predictive Models for Asphalt Mixtures
Dynamic modulus characterizes the viscoelastic behavior of asphalt materials and is the most important input parameter for design and rehabilitation of flexible pavements using Mechanistic–Empirical Pavement Design Guide (MEPDG). Laboratory determination of dynamic modulus is very expensive and time consuming. To overcome this challenge, several predictive models were developed to determine dyn...
متن کاملInternal Structure Features of Asphalt Mixture for Field Samples
Asphalt mixture is heterogeneous in nature; therefore, macroscopic parameters alone cannot describe the mechanical behavior of the mixture. In recent years, the arrangement of the aggregate particles in terms of spatial and directional distributions, and contact points are considered as the internal structure of asphalt. The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the microstructural chara...
